The following information reflects FDA-approved prescribing information for Azithromycin Z-Pak (azithromycin). Always follow your prescriber's specific instructions:

  • Per FDA-approved prescribing information, adults: Take 2 tablets (500 mg) once on Day 1, then 1 tablet (250 mg) once daily on Days 2–5.
  • Per FDA-approved prescribing information, children 6 months and older: Dose is based on weight. • 22–30 lbs (10–14 kg): Day 1 = 100 mg; Days 2–5 = 50 mg daily • 31–44 lbs (14–20 kg): Day 1 = 200 mg; Days 2–5 = 100 mg daily • 45–55 lbs (20–25 kg): Day 1 = 250 mg; Days 2–5 = 125 mg daily • 56–75 lbs (25–34 kg): Day 1 = 300 mg; Days 2–5 = 150 mg daily • Over ~75 lbs (34+ kg): Adult schedule is typically used.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's already close to the time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and simply return to your usual timing.

Do not double up to make up for a missed dose — that won't improve effectiveness and may increase stomach upset.
