What Is MetaboTherm Support

MetaboTherm Support is the name Voshell’s Pharmacy uses for a compounded preparation related to thermogenic and metabolic-support ingredients. Compounded medications are not reviewed by FDA for safety or effectiveness before dispensing and are prepared by a licensed pharmacist only in response to a valid prescription for an individual patient.

What it contains

  • Natural stimulants and botanicals: such as caffeine and green tea extract, which according to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements have been studied for their role in alertness and fat-oxidation pathways; consult a qualified prescriber before use.
  • Amino acids: such as L-carnitine, which according to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements plays a role in transporting long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria for energy metabolism.
  • Trace minerals and B-vitamins: such as chromium and B12, which according to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements are involved in normal energy-yielding metabolism and macronutrient processing.

How to use and safety considerations

  • Use: taken as directed by a qualified prescriber alongside diet and exercise guidance.
  • Possible effects: jitteriness, insomnia, elevated heart rate, or mild gastrointestinal discomfort may occur; discuss with a qualified prescriber.
  • Precautions: a qualified prescriber should be consulted before use if pregnant, nursing, taking other medications (including stimulants, anticoagulants, or diabetes drugs), or if you have heart, liver, kidney, or thyroid conditions.
  • Quality: compounded preparations may be formulated to accommodate individual needs such as allergen exclusions when a qualified prescriber determines this is appropriate.

This page describes a compounded preparation and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent diabetes, obesity, or any other disease. Decisions about glucose management, weight management, and metabolic health should be made with a qualified prescriber.

Key Product Features

Caffeine and Green Tea Extract

  • According to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, caffeine and green tea catechins have been studied for their involvement in energy expenditure and fat-oxidation pathways. L-Carnitine and Amino Acid Nutrients

  • According to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, L-carnitine plays a role in the transport of long-chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane, a step involved in normal energy metabolism. Inclusion of L-carnitine in a compounded preparation does not establish clinical benefit for any disease, condition, or patient outcome.

B-Vitamins and Energy Metabolism

  • According to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, B-vitamins including B12 are involved in normal energy-yielding metabolism and the functioning of the nervous system. Inclusion of B-vitamins in a compounded preparation does not establish clinical benefit for any disease, condition, or patient outcome.

Do You Need Prescription for MetaboTherm Support

Do You Need a Prescription for MetaboTherm Support?

Whether MetaboTherm Support requires a prescription depends on the active ingredients and how the preparation is labeled. When formulated solely with dietary-supplement ingredients such as vitamins, botanicals, or amino acids, many products in this category are sold over-the-counter. However, when a compounded preparation includes a prescription-only active ingredient, a valid prescription from a licensed prescriber is required before a compounding pharmacy may dispense it.

  • Check the label: look for “dietary supplement” versus “Rx only” and review the full ingredient list for any prescription-drug names.
  • Speak with a qualified prescriber or pharmacist: they may clarify whether the specific formulation you are considering requires a prescription and whether it is appropriate for your situation.
  • Compounded preparations: compounded medications are not reviewed by FDA for safety or efficacy prior to dispensing; they are prepared by a licensed pharmacist only in response to a valid prescription for an individual patient.
  • Consult a qualified prescriber: before starting any preparation related to metabolic support, discuss your full medical history, current medications, and health goals with a qualified prescriber to determine what is appropriate for you.
About compounded medications: Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. They have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. FDA-approved medications should be considered first when commercially available options meet patient needs. Compounded preparations are prepared by licensed pharmacists in response to valid prescriptions for individual patients with specific medical needs.
